Pastor’s Message: December 22, 2023

Dear Parishioners,

This weekend we hear the familiar story of Mary’s yes to God’s plan, of accepting to be the mother of Jesus. Mary’s yes teaches us the importance of surrendering our will to God’s plan for us. It reminds us that God has a purpose for each of our lives and that by saying yes to His plan; we can participate in His divine work.

Mary’s example also shows us of the importance of faith and trust in God even when it may seem difficult or uncertain. Let us follow Mary’s example and say yes to God.

This year the last Sunday in Advent falls just a few days before Christmas, which is a time when we celebrate the ultimate act of love – God sending His only Son to save us.

As we prepare for the birth of Christ, we are reminded of the importance of love in our lives. It is a time to reflect on the love that we have for others and the love that we receive from God. This love helps us to grow in faith and to become more like Christ.

The birth of our Newborn King, The Word in the flesh, this Christmas day we receive the perfect gift.

May the Light of Christ be our light, may the joy and the hope of the Christmas message, give us the courage and strength to believe that things can get better and will get better.

It is with much gratitude and thanks for all you have been and done to grace Assumption this past year. You are in my prayers this Christmas season, asking God to shower you with peace, joy, hope and love.

My wish is that your hearts may know the joy of the presence of the newborn King. May the Virgin Mary and her Son, Jesus, the King of Peace, fill your hearts, lives, and homes with the blessings of Christmas and throughout the New Year.

Pray for Peace!
God Bless you,
Fr. Cyrus
