Baptism at Church of the Assumption

The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism is Jesus. In Baptism, the Holy Spirit moves us to answer Christ’s call to holiness. In Baptism, we are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. We are invited to submit our hearts to Christ with ever deeper love. Through the sacrament of Baptism we are freed from original sin and are welcomed into the community of the Church, where we have access to the fullness of the means of salvation. Parents, Godparents, and the parish community of the baptized commit themselves to the ongoing formation in faith and knowledge of the traditions of the Church. In order that the parents may be properly disposed to understand and carry out the duties that they accept in presenting their children for Baptism, it is necessary for them to participate in a Pre-Baptismal program. Classes are held on the first Thursday of every month in the Oscar Romero Room at the Rocalli House. Baptisms are on the second and fourth Sundays at 1:00 pm. Please call the parish office for further information (203) 227- 5161.
