Gift by Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA Account

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a direct transfer of funds from your traditional IRA which must be made payable to a qualified charity. QCDs are not taxable and can count toward satisfying your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year if you are 70 ½ and older. The amount is limited to a maximum of $105,000 per person in 2024 and can count toward your annual RMD if it comes out of your account by December 31st. Your charity will benefit from the donation; You will benefit as a QCD reduces taxable income by the amount donated from your IRA. Gift by Stock - Donate Appreciated Stock as a Gift

If you have highly appreciated securities that you have held for at least 1 year, you can donate the shares of stock directly to Assumption. By donating, you eliminate capital gains tax on the appreciated shares, and you can receive the benefit of a contribution on the market value of those long-term appreciated shares which you donate. You should consult your CPA or tax preparer before engaging in these transactions.
