The Church of the Assumption has been a vibrant center of Catholic faith and community life in Westport for generations. Founded to serve a growing Catholic population, the parish was established under the patronage of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, placing Mary’s faith, humility, and trust in God at the heart of parish life from the very beginning.

Throughout its history, the Church of the Assumption has grown and evolved alongside the town of Westport. From its early days as a small parish community to its present role as a thriving spiritual home, the parish has remained steadfast in its mission to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, and serve others. The parish church and campus stand as visible signs of faith, prayer, and continuity, welcoming generations of families who have celebrated baptisms, weddings, funerals, and countless moments of grace within its walls.

Guided by devoted clergy, religious, and lay leaders, the Church of the Assumption has long been committed to Catholic education, charitable outreach, and active participation in parish life. Through liturgy, sacramental life, service to those in need, and engagement with the wider community, the parish continues to live out Christ’s call to love God and neighbor.

Today, the Church of the Assumption remains a faith-filled parish rooted in tradition and open to the future—a welcoming community where all are invited to grow in holiness, deepen their relationship with Christ, and walk together as disciples in the heart of Westport.
