Dear Parish Family,

In the Gospel today Jesus tells us about a father who asks his two sons to go and work in the vineyard. The first son says no but later changes his mind and goes. The second son says yes but never goes. Jesus is talking about the way we respond to God.

Sometimes we say all the right things. But faith is not just about what we say. Faith is about what happens in our hearts and what we do with our lives.

We can say, "Yes, Lord," and still ignore someone who needs our help, or refuse to forgive someone.

Sometimes we say no when we might be angry, tired, selfish, or simply not ready. But later, something happens. We open our hearts. We change our minds. We turn back to God and that change is where God's mercy meets us.

Jesus does not ask us to be perfect. He asks us to be genuine. If we have said no, we can change. If we have fallen away, we can return. The Christian life is about allowing our love for God to become visible in the way we live.

As we receive Jesus in the Eucharist today, let us ask Him to give us a heart that is willing to serve.

Let us pray for the humility to admit when we are wrong, the courage to change, and the generosity to respond when God calls us. And when God asks us to go into His vineyard, may we not only say, "Yes, Lord." May we actually go.
