Dear Parish Family,

Jesus gives us the Beatitudes to help us live a life shaped by God’s kingdom.

The beatitudes are a way of life—and a promise that God is at work among people the world may overlook. They turn our usual ideas of success upside down: the poor in spirit, the grieving, the gentle, and those who hunger for justice are called blessed—not because suffering is good, but because God draws near to them and promises that suffering will not have the last word. The Beatitudes invite us to take a second look at our world and its values and especially our own values and choose instead God’s ways, which Jesus announces to us.
