Dear Parish Family,
Lent – it’s closer than you think!
We are still in Ordinary Time but Lent is right around the corner. It begins on March 2, when we come together to mark our foreheads with ashes. Lent is a time for us to pray more, to fast, and to give to those in need,
We celebrate Lent in order to prepare for Easter and there is nothing ordinary about what our Lord did and does for us in his sacrifice for our salvation.
I encourage you to spend some time in prayer in the next few weeks or so to ask the Lord if there is a little more that you can do to make this a special Lent.

Dear Parish Family,
“A Bridge Home”

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal is the yearly fundraising campaign that supports the ongoing ministries and programs throughout our diocese. This year the Appeal will invest in initiatives that accomplish the following for all people in Fairfield County: To teach and preach the Gospel

The Appeal theme, “A Bridge Home”, is our opportunity to look beyond our parish. It calls us as sharers in the life and mission of the Church, to proclaim with joy the Good News of the Gospel by example and witness in our parish and in surrounding cities, towns and neighborhoods.

To  Building “Bridges of Faith” and Serving the Poor
To  Building Communities of Faith and neighborhoods.

You will be receiving literature through the mail with the specifics of the Appeal. The countless good works that promote goodness, compassion and service that benefit from this effort allow us to fulfill the mission given to us all.

We are invited to grow in generosity by making a sacrificial gift through a pledge or a one-time donation. Our parish goal is $146,300.  As stewards of God’s gifts, let us pray for the success of this year’s appeal.

God Bless,
Fr. Cyrus

Dear Parish Family,

Pope Francis has asked to hear from all of us on the Church’s mission in the Third Millennium through the Synod on Synodality.

Our delegates, Michael Rafferty, Mary Welsh Leman, Craig Wiele, Juany Fumai, Michele Harding are preparing opportunities for parishioners and beyond to participate.

In preparation, pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to enlighten our hearts and minds.

God Bless,

Dear Parish Family,
Pope Francis has declared that the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time will be devoted to the celebration and study of the Word of God.
(September 30 is the feast day of St. Jerome, who is known especially for his translation of Scriptures into Latin.)
The document is called Aperuit illis, from its opening words, taken from St. Luke’s Gospel, where the Evangelist describes how the Risen Jesus appeared to His disciples, and how “He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.”
When we gather for Mass, God speaks his word to us through the Scriptures. Our desire is to open our ears and our hearts to listen attentively. To prepare to hear the Word we could more effectively do this by reading the Sunday Scriptures before Mass in order to prepare our hearts to receive the Word of the Lord.
The Bible is the inspired word of the Lord. As Catholics, we believe this is the holy book of the church, the sacred literature of God’s people. Our church encourages us to read and reflect frequently on the pages of this book so that we may be continually formed into committed disciples of Jesus Christ
May the Holy Spirit instill in us a deep desire to know God’s word and may our reading of Scripture lead us to a deeper faith, a more lively hope, and a more fervent love for the Lord and his holy church.
God Bless,
Fr. Cyrus

Dear Parish Family,
As we begin Ordinary Time and follow the public ministry of Jesus—his teachings,
healings, and interactions with others we are invited to consider how well we are following him and how we will share in his mission in the year ahead
This is the part of the year in which Christ, the Lamb of God, walks among us and transforms our lives. There’s nothing “ordinary” about that.
May this new year be one of growth in faith, hope, and love—in us, in our Church, and in the children and families we serve! Amen.
God Bless,
Fr. Cyrus
