OUR MISSION
The Church of the Assumption Parish is a Roman Catholic Christian Community in Westport Connecticut, called by Jesus Christ to know, love and serve Him.  Our mission is to strive to live a full sacramental life centered on the Eucharist, committed to living and spreading the Gospel of Jesus through faithful worship, witness, education and generous stewardship.

OUR VISION
We at the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption commit ourselves to be a guiding light of the Catholic faith recognized as a large, welcoming, generous and effective faith community.

Inspired by the holiness of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, sustained by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the graces given in the celebration of the sacraments, we will use our gifts of time, talent and treasure to provide the services and ministries necessary to promote the Catholic faith through our commitment to educate the young, meet the spiritual and material needs of all God’s children, and to glorify the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit by our Christian example with the intercession of our patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pastor's Message

  • Dear Parish Family,

    Alleluia, Happy Easte!

The Fourth Sunday of Easter is also called Good Shepherd Sunday.
Today’s gospel Jesus refers to himself as the Good Shepherd who knows his sheep. By identifying himself as the shepherd, Jesus emphasizes his role in guiding, providing for, and safeguarding us. We like sheep are able to recognize and trust him because of our close connection to him.

Jesus emphasizes His divinity and the intimate relationship He offers to us his followers. Understanding this Gospel enriches our faith by deepening our grasp of Jesus’ nature and mission, reinforcing the foundation for practices like the Eucharist and the commandment to love one another as a reflection of divine love.

We the sheep of our Good Shepherd are called to give of ourselves in order to provide shelter and nourishment for others. We are asked to extend the love that Jesus offers to us and for others in the same way that our shepherd cares for us.

Jesus is telling us that those who come to believe in him and hear his voice, that he, the Good Shepheard, the Gate, leads us to true salvation.

    God Bless,
    Fr. Cyrus
